Demonetization :

History :

On November 8, 2016, at 8 Pm Indian Government Announced the Demonetization of All 500 and 1000 Notes without any Prior Intimation.

Honourable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi Announced the Demonetization to Ban Notes of 500 And 1000 with Mahatma Gandhi Series Would be invalid that Past Mid Night of November 8, 2016. The Indian Government Has Demonetized the Notes in two occasions Before this.

The Reserve Bank of India Stipulated the Replacement of Old Notes for Fifty Days Till December 30, 2016.

  • Initially, the limit was fixed at 4,000/person from 8th to 13th of November.
  • This limit was increased to 4,500/person from 14th to 17th of November.
  • The limit was reduced to 2,000/person from 18th November.

All exchange of bank notes were stopped from 25 November 2016

International airports were also instructed the Facility of an exchange of notes amounting to a total value of ₹5,000 for foreign tourists and outbound passengers.

Third Time on 8 Nov 2016.

Five Hundred Rupees Note :

It Contains Width of 66mm

Height of 150mm

Front Side: Mahatma Gandhi

Back Side: Red Fort

Colour: Stone Grey

It Includes Signature of RBI Governor and Released by RBI on 8 Nov 2016.

Two Hundred Rupees Note :

It Contains Width of 146mm

Height of 66mm

Front Side: Mahatma Gandhi

Back Side: Sanchi Stupa

Colour: Bright Yellow

It Includes Signature of RBI Governor and Released by RBI in August 2017.

Fifty Rupees Note :

It Contains Width of 147mm

Height of 73mm

Front Side: Mahatma Gandhi

Back Side: Hampi with Chariot

Colour: Pink Violet.
